Who am I?

As an Electronic Design Engineer at Bosch Security and Safety Systems, I develop high-speed PCBs, digital and analog hardware, power supplies, and complex PCB designs for innovative and reliable embedded systems. I utilize state-of-the-art technologies and apply my domain expertise to create solutions that enhance the performance and functionality of the products. Some of my recent achievements include designing and implementing high-speed image sensor PCBs, modules for functional testing systems of circuits boards, developing flex-rigid PCB designs and power electronics systems.

My curiosity and passion for technology led me to pursue a Master of Science degree in Artificial Intelligence from Radboud University Nijmegen, where I acquired advanced knowledge and skills in machine learning, computer vision, robotics, and natural language processing. I also hold a Master of Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, where I honed my skills in microcontrollers, digital electronics, and embedded systems. My education background has equipped me with a solid foundation and a multidisciplinary perspective to tackle complex and challenging problems in the electronics industry.

My ambition for the near future is to become an expert in the field of high-speed design and signal integrity, while contributing to the research and development of robotic systems that can improve the quality of life and safety of people. I am a detail-oriented, open-minded, and collaborative person who values innovation, excellence, and customer satisfaction. I am always eager to learn new things, explore new domains, and collaborate with diverse and talented teams.

Electronic Design Engineer

TMC Electronics B.V. | April 2021 – Present | Eindhoven, The Netherlands

Through TMC, I work for clients contributing my knowledge and expertise on projects such as developing high-end security cameras and inspection robots. In these projects, my primary stakeholders are project managers, system architects, and electronic engineers. As an Electronic Design Engineer, I design mass production-ready PCBs with high signal integrity and EMC compliance. Furthermore, I identify errors or failures in the design and implement and test solid solutions. As an individual contributor and as a collaborative team member I enjoy working in multi-disciplinary environments.

Electronic Design Engineer

Bosch Security and Safety Systems B.V. | June 2021 – December 2023 | Eindhoven, The Netherlands

  • Designed mass production-ready High-speed PCBs with 1.2Gbps MIPI interface for image sensors.
  • Ensured PCB trace impedance by doing TDR evaluations resulting in better signal integrity.
  • Conducted EMC evaluations to perform layout optimizations leading to an increase in EMC margins.
  • Tasks include, selecting suitable stack-up, ensuring trace impedance, IBIS simulation, and complete electrical evaluation of the PCBAs.
  • Collaborated with the system testing team to find the root cause of 1Gbps ethernet failure at high temperatures.
  • Contributed to developing and maintaining a component derating database.
  • Development of printed circuit board (PCB) according to the IPC industry standards.

Embedded Software & Hardware Engineer

  • Designed and developed functional testing systems for PCBAs.
  • Designed Flex-Rigid PCB with high power transmission capabilities with higher mechanical flexibility.
  • Designed a 200W power supply that can produce 0-36V AC voltage, 0-10A current at 1-255Hz.
  • Implemented noise filters using RC snubbers and common-mode chokes.
  • Performed PCB layout optimizations for better thermal performance.
  • Developed and maintained Eagle CAD ULP automation library.
  • End-to-end contribution to electronic system development from, requirement definition, key-component selection, schematic and layout design, communication with manufacturing suppliers, in-house assembly and testing, and validation.

  • Developed a Wi-Fi and vibration sensor-based factory monitoring systems that interfaced with the ERP systems for better downtime visibility.
  • Designed an IoT-based Remote Preventive Maintenance system with temperature and light sensors for easy monitoring of infrastructure.
